Governor Imee Marcos once said and I quote “Ilocos is the best little province of the country” - to be names as the best little province is like adding a feather to the cap of the people of the place. What more can we say?
Ilocos is undoubtedly one of the most amazing places one can go to. With the growing rate of the people who visits the place, the people has to be more precise and meticulous when it comes to maintaining ad preserving the tourist spots – which is like a very easy task for the Ilocanos considering that tourist attractions here are still undeniably breathtaking and worth going for despite the large number of tourists who visits the place. Consider the old houses in Vigan that was built way back when the Spanish colonizers came to the Philippines. From then until now, the people living there had the initiative to preserve and beautify the place – pretty much the reason why it has been lately named as one of the “New 7 Wonder Cities of the World.”
These past few years, Ilocos has really been active in organizing activities. Many of which has been attended by well-known names like Nora Aunor, whose statue has been built in La Paz Sand Dunes in Paoay as well as Susan Roces who witnessed the introduction of the statue of his husband – the late Fernando Poe Jr. ( well-known as FPJ ) – in the same place. Tan-ok, the largest dance showdown in Ilocos province – has been witnessed by a lot of people that left them astonished with how talented Ilocanos are.
The aforementioned statements are just but a few reasons our very own Governor must have said that Ilocos is the best little province in the country. Well, who would disagree to that? No bias. No wonder why Ilocanos are very proud of their own province.
We can see how much Ilocos has been imporoved and innovated through the years. We should not stop here because we, the Ilocanos, can definitely do better and better until we can be the best!
